Keep Your Deck Dry with the AquaTek Drainage System

When it comes to building long-lasting decks, one of the most overlooked (but critical) features is drainage. Water buildup under your deck can cause rot, mold, structural damage, and safety issues — especially in Utah’s changing climate. That’s why we developed the AquaTek Deck Drainage System, a waterproofing solution that protects your deck from the ground up.
At Wasatch Deck and Rail Supply, we’ve tested and refined the AquaTek system to ensure easy installation, long-term performance, and full customization. Whether you're a contractor or DIY homeowner, AquaTek gives you the tools to build smarter, cleaner, and more durable outdoor spaces.
Here is a video of our founder showing you how to install an AquaTek System:
Why Deck Drainage Matters
Even composite or PVC decking needs a solid drainage system. Rainwater, snowmelt, and even hose runoff can gather between joists and beams. Without proper water redirection, your deck's structure — and the area underneath — can become a breeding ground for moisture problems.
With AquaTek, you gain:
A cleaner, drier space beneath your deck
Protection against rot, mildew, and premature aging
A foundation that supports multi-level decks, storage, or living space underneath
How the AquaTek Deck Drainage System Works
The AquaTek system uses pre-tapered, pre-cut rubber troughs and a combination of backsplashes, beam covers, flashing, and waterproof tape to direct water into designated drainage areas — keeping your framing dry and your deck healthy.
The Key Components:
Backsplashes: Redirect water away from joists and into the drainage system. Ideal for decks with outer beams.
Beam Covers: Add a second layer of protection and guide water into the drainage path.
Rubber Troughs: Pre-tapered for efficient flow, installed between joists using a staggered method.
Double-stick Tape & Caulk Lines: Create watertight bonds between layers and flashing.
Fascia + Overlap System: Prevents water from dripping behind fascia boards, directing it where you want it to go.

Designed with Builders in Mind
Our system is designed for quick installation. Whether you're building from framing or retrofitting an existing deck, AquaTek is flexible enough to adapt to your project. All rubber components are custom-cut in-house, meaning we can size them for any beam width, joist spacing, or slope.
Want to run a gutter in the middle of your deck? No problem — our system allows for funnels or custom rubber cuts to guide water exactly where you need it.

Tested for Performance
To prove just how watertight our rubber system is, we ran a real-world test: We filled a 10x10 sheet of AquaTek rubber with water while it was held up by four corners and punctured with a screw in the center — and it didn’t leak.
That means when AquaTek is installed correctly, it creates a seal you can count on.
Perfect for Custom Projects
Because we cut and prep AquaTek in-house at our Utah warehouse, we can:
Customize widths for oversized beams or box framing
Provide extra materials for complex builds, borders, or fascia coverage
Help with solutions around posts, stairs, and angled layouts
Whether you're protecting the structure below or prepping for a second-level living space, AquaTek keeps everything clean, dry, and strong.
